How to Register a US Apple ID? No Credit Card Needed, Done in 5 Mins

Registering a US Apple ID does not require a credit card or a US phone number; all you need is an unregistered email address and your Chinese phone number. The entire process takes just 5 minutes. You need to create an account on the Apple website (appleid.apple.com), select "United States" as your country, choose "None" for the payment method, and fill in any US address. Once successfully registered, log into this new account via "Media & Purchases" on your iPhone, open the App Store, search for "Binance", and download it. After registration, you can directly visit the Binance official website to check the latest version information, or get the Android download links via the Binance official APP. If you encounter any problems during installation, please refer to our iOS installation tutorial page for more detailed guidance.

What Do You Need Before Registering?

You need two things to register a US Apple ID: a brand new email address and a phone number capable of receiving SMS texts.

Email Requirements

The email must never have been associated with any Apple ID. We recommend using Gmail, Outlook, or ProtonMail. If you use an email already registered with Apple, the system will state "This email address is already in use." Creating a new Gmail account takes only 2 minutes at accounts.google.com.

Phone Number Requirements

A mainland China +86 phone number works perfectly for US Apple ID registration. Apple's verification system supports mobile numbers from over 200 countries and regions. The Apple ID region and the phone number's country are entirely separate concepts. You can even bind a single phone number to multiple Apple IDs across different regions.

Complete Steps to Register a US Apple ID

Step 1: Open the Registration Page

Open appleid.apple.com on your iPhone or computer browser, and click "Create Your Apple ID" in the top right. It is recommended to use Safari or Chrome, and page loading usually takes under 3 seconds. Note: Do not register directly within the App Store app. Browser registration has a higher success rate and allows you to easily bypass setting up payment information.

Step 2: Fill in Basic Information

  • Name: Enter an English name. It does not need to match your real ID, e.g., "John Smith".
  • Country/Region: Select "United States". This is the most crucial step, as it determines your App Store region.
  • Date of Birth: Enter a date that makes you 18 or older, e.g., January 1, 1990.
  • Email: Enter your brand new email address. This will become your Apple ID login.
  • Password: Set a password of at least 8 characters, containing uppercase letters, lowercase letters, and numbers.

Filling out this form takes about 2 minutes.

Step 3: Verify Your Phone Number

Select "China mainland (+86)" and enter your phone number. Choose to verify via "Text message". Apple will send a 6-digit verification code within 10 seconds. Enter it and click "Continue".

Step 4: Verify Your Email

Apple will send an email containing a 6-digit verification code to the address you provided. Log into your email, find the message from Apple (subject usually reads "Verify your Apple ID email address"), copy the code, and enter it. The email usually arrives within 30 seconds; check your spam folder if you don't see it.

Step 5: Registration Complete

Once verified, your US Apple ID is successfully registered, and the system will redirect you to the Apple ID management page. Immediately record your login email and password, preferably in a secure password manager.

Setting Up the App Store for the First Time

When using a newly registered US Apple ID in the App Store for the first time, you must complete your account information.

Switching to the US Account

Open your iPhone's "Settings" → Tap your name at the top → "Media & Purchases" → "Sign Out". Note: This only signs you out of your App Store purchasing account, leaving iCloud untouched. After signing out, tap "Media & Purchases" again → Select "Not [Your Name]?" → Enter your US Apple ID email and password to log in.

Completing Account Details

When you open the App Store for the first time, a "Review" prompt will appear, asking you to complete your payment and address details. Fill it out as follows:

Field What to Fill In
Payment Method None
Street Any US address, e.g., "1600 Amphitheatre Parkway"
City Mountain View
State California
Zip Code 94043
Phone Enter any 10 digits, e.g., 4081234567

Selecting a tax-free state can help you avoid state taxes when purchasing paid apps. Recommended tax-free states include: Oregon (Zip 97201), Delaware (Zip 19901), and Montana (Zip 59001).

Tap "Done" and your App Store is ready to use. This setup process takes about 1 minute.

Downloading the Binance APP

In the App Store search bar, type "Binance" (make sure to use English) and find the official APP developed by "Binance Inc." The icon is a black diamond on a yellow background, and the size is about 198MB (v2.92). Tap the "GET" button and wait for the download and installation to complete, which typically takes 30 seconds to 1 minute on Wi-Fi.

Once downloaded, the Binance icon will appear on your home screen. Tap to open it. Upon first launch, the APP will request notification permissions; it is recommended to allow this so you can receive price alerts and security notifications.

Account Security Recommendations

Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

Immediately after registering, enable Two-Factor Authentication on your Apple ID management page. This is Apple's official security feature, requiring a verification code sent to a trusted device whenever you log in on a new device. To enable: Settings → Apple ID → Password & Security → Two-Factor Authentication → Turn On.

Set Up an Account Recovery Contact

Add a recovery email address or recovery contact in your Apple ID management page. In case you forget your password or your account gets locked, you can regain access this way. Path: appleid.apple.com → Sign-In and Security → Account Recovery → Add Recovery Contact.

Password Management

We strongly recommend using a strong password of 12+ characters for your US Apple ID and storing it in your iPhone's built-in iCloud Keychain or a third-party password manager (like 1Password or Bitwarden). Do not use the same password as you do on other platforms.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if There Is No "None" Payment Option?

If you complete your information directly in the App Store right after registering via the web, the "None" option will definitely appear. If you create the Apple ID directly within your iPhone Settings, the "None" option might be missing. Solution: Visit appleid.apple.com in your browser, log into your new Apple ID, and manually set the payment method to "None".

The System Says "This Apple ID has not yet been used in the iTunes Store"

This is a normal prompt. You must complete your account information the first time you use it before downloading apps. Follow the prompt by tapping "Review", fill in the address details, and agree to the Terms and Conditions.

The Registration Page Won't Open or Loads Slowly

appleid.apple.com can usually be accessed normally from mainland China, but it may load slowly on some networks. We recommend switching to a Wi-Fi network or changing your DNS to 114.114.114.114 or 8.8.8.8. The page should normally load within 5 seconds.

How Many Apple IDs Can One Phone Number Register?

Apple allows a single phone number to be linked to multiple Apple IDs. You can use the same +86 number to register separate US, Hong Kong, and Japanese Apple IDs. Each is an independent account and they do not affect one another.

Can I Change My US Apple ID Back to China Later?

You can, but it is not recommended. You can change your Apple ID's country/region via appleid.apple.com, but doing so means you won't be able to update region-exclusive apps you downloaded previously. We highly recommend keeping a dedicated US Apple ID solely for downloading overseas apps and avoiding switching regions back and forth.
