How to Update the Binance App to the Latest Version? Android and Apple Update Guide

How you update your Binance App depends entirely on your phone's operating system and how it was initially installed. For Android users who downloaded via Google Play, simply search for Binance in the Play Store and tap update. If you installed it via an APK file, you must revisit the Binance official website to download the newest APK and install it over the old one. For Apple users utilizing TestFlight, update prompts will appear automatically within the TestFlight app. If you used an enterprise signature installation, you must rescan the download link to fetch the latest version. We strongly recommend enabling auto-updates to promptly receive security patches and new features. According to Binance's security bulletins, roughly 15% of critical vulnerability fixes are deployed via app updates, meaning older versions carry known security risks. You can find the newest download links on the Binance Official Site, or directly update your Binance Official App. For comprehensive Apple installation steps, refer to our iOS Installation Guide.

How to Update on Android

Method 1: Google Play Store Update

If you originally downloaded the Binance App from the Google Play Store, this is the easiest route.

  1. Open the Google Play Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select "Manage apps & device".
  4. Find Binance in the "Updates available" list.
  5. Tap the "Update" button.
  6. Wait for the download and installation to complete.

Alternatively, you can just search "Binance" in Google Play. If an update is available, the button will say "Update" instead of "Open".

Enable Auto-Updates: Go to Google Play Store → Settings → Network preferences → Auto-update apps. We recommend setting this to "Over Wi-Fi only" to save mobile data. Once enabled, the Binance App will update automatically in the background.

Method 2: Manual APK Update

If your Android phone lacks Google Play services, or if you installed Binance via an APK file directly, you must manually download the newest APK to update.

  1. Open your mobile browser and go to the official Binance website.
  2. Navigate to the download page and find the Android APK link.
  3. Download the latest APK file (usually between 80-120MB).
  4. Once downloaded, tap the file to install it.
  5. If prompted with "Install unknown apps", grant permission for your browser in the settings.
  6. Choose to "Install over existing app" (Do NOT uninstall the old version first, or you will have to log in and set everything up again).
  7. Open the app after installation to verify the version number has changed.

Crucial Warning: ONLY download APKs from the official Binance website. Never use third-party app stores or random websites, as those APKs may be maliciously modified to steal crypto assets. Every year, users lose funds by downloading unofficial crypto apps.

Method 3: In-App Update Prompt

The Binance App has a built-in update detector. When a new version drops, a prompt may pop up upon launching the app. Tapping "Update Now" redirects you to the official download page. If it doesn't pop up automatically, check manually: tap Profile → Settings → About Binance → Check for Updates.

How to Update on Apple iOS

Method 1: App Store Update (Overseas Apple ID)

If you downloaded Binance using an overseas Apple ID (e.g., US or Hong Kong), updating is incredibly straightforward.

  1. Open the App Store.
  2. Tap your profile icon in the top right corner.
  3. Swipe down to refresh the page and load the "Available Updates" list.
  4. Locate Binance and tap "Update".
  5. Enter your Apple ID password or authenticate with Face/Touch ID.
  6. Wait for it to finish.

Important Note: You MUST be logged into the exact same Apple ID used to originally download the app. If you switched back to your local Apple ID, you will not be able to update the app downloaded with the overseas ID.

Method 2: TestFlight Update

If you participate in the Binance TestFlight beta program, follow these steps:

  1. Open the TestFlight app.
  2. Find Binance in your list of apps.
  3. If a new version is ready, an "Update" button will appear.
  4. Tap to update.

TestFlight versions usually get updates 1-3 days faster than the App Store because they bypass Apple's stringent review process. TestFlight will also send you push notifications when updates are live.

Method 3: Reinstallation (Enterprise Signature Version)

If you installed Binance using an enterprise developer certificate, it does not support automatic updates. You must acquire a fresh installation link.

  1. Find the newest installation link via the Binance website or official guides.
  2. Open the link using the Safari browser.
  3. Follow the prompts to download the provisioning profile and the app.
  4. Once installed, go to Settings → General → VPN & Device Management and trust the new developer certificate.
  5. The new app will seamlessly overwrite the old one, retaining your login status and data.

Important Precautions Before Updating

Back Up Google Authenticator

While updating the app does not affect your Google Authenticator data (since it's a separate app entirely), installation errors or accidental uninstalls could cause issues. Always ensure you have the backup recovery key for your 2FA before proceeding.

Ensure a Stable Network

If your connection drops during the download, the corrupted file might cause the app to crash upon opening. Always update over a stable Wi-Fi connection. The entire process takes about 1-3 minutes.

Remember Your Current Version Number

Before updating, check your current version (Profile → Settings → About). After the update, check it again to verify the process was successful. This prevents situations where you accidentally downloaded an old APK or the update failed to apply.

Troubleshooting Update Failures

Common Android Issues

"Parse Error" or "There was a problem parsing the package": The APK file download is incomplete. Delete the downloaded file and try again over a stronger network.

"App not installed" or Signature Mismatch: The new APK was signed with a different key than the old one (usually because they were downloaded from different sources). You must uninstall the old app first, then install the new one. Note: You will need to log back in.

Crashes right after installing: Likely due to insufficient storage space. Clear out old files to ensure you have at least 500MB of free space, or try clearing the app's cache.

Common Apple Issues

App Store shows no update: This is a region limitation. Ensure you are logged into the correct overseas Apple ID, then pull down the App Store updates page to force a refresh.

TestFlight says "This build is no longer available": The beta build has expired. Wait 1-3 days for Binance to push a new TestFlight build.

Enterprise signature app won't install: The enterprise certificate was likely revoked by Apple. You must wait for Binance to issue a new certificate, or switch to the App Store/TestFlight methods.

How to Verify You Have the Latest Version

After updating, open the app → Profile → Settings → About Binance to check the version number. Compare this number with the latest version announced on Binance's official website. If they match, your update was successful.

Binance updates its app every 2-4 weeks. Updates include massive new features, UX optimizations, crucial security patches, and bug fixes. Updating promptly ensures you get the best experience while maintaining top-tier security for your assets.
