How to install the Binance client on Mac? Universal tutorial for Intel and M chips

Installing the Binance client on a Mac requires downloading the corresponding DMG installer from the Binance official website. For Intel-based Macs, download the x64 version (~150MB); for M-series chip Macs, download the ARM version (~140MB). The installation process takes less than 3 minutes. The Binance Mac client is a native application with excellent performance on M1/M2/M3/M4 chips, featuring a startup time of about 2 seconds and memory usage of around 300-400MB. macOS's Gatekeeper security mechanism will pop up a "can't be verified" warning when first opened; this is a routine check for non-App Store apps. Follow this tutorial to install it normally. Visit the Binance Official Website download page and select the macOS version to start. Once installed, log in with your Binance account or use the Binance Official APP on your phone to scan the QR code for login. If you also need to install Binance on an iPhone, please refer to the iOS Installation Tutorial.

Confirm Your Mac Chip Type

Before downloading, you need to confirm whether your Mac uses an Intel chip or an Apple Silicon (M-series) chip, as the two architectures require different installer versions.

How to Check

Click the Apple icon in the top left corner of the screen → About This Mac:

  • Intel Chip: The processor line will show "Intel Core i5/i7/i9", etc.
  • Apple Silicon: The chip line will show "Apple M1/M2/M3/M4", etc.

Version Selection Recommendations

Mac Chip Recommended Version Installer Size Performance
Intel Core i5/i7/i9 macOS x64 version ~150MB Good
Apple M1/M1 Pro/M1 Max macOS ARM version ~140MB Excellent
Apple M2/M2 Pro/M2 Max macOS ARM version ~140MB Excellent
Apple M3/M3 Pro/M3 Max macOS ARM version ~140MB Great
Apple M4/M4 Pro/M4 Max macOS ARM version ~140MB Great

If you download the wrong version, it will still work—M-series Macs can run the Intel version via Rosetta 2, but performance will drop by about 20%. Therefore, downloading the native version for your architecture is recommended.

Download and Installation Steps

Step 1: Download the DMG File

  1. Open Safari or Chrome browser.
  2. Visit the Binance official website download page.
  3. Select the "macOS" option.
  4. The page usually auto-detects your chip type and recommends the corresponding version; if not, manually select the correct one.
  5. Click the download button.
  6. The DMG file is saved in the "Downloads" folder.

Step 2: Open the DMG File

Open the "Downloads" folder in Finder and double-click the downloaded .dmg file. The system will mount the disk image and open a new window showing the Binance app icon and a shortcut to the Applications folder.

Step 3: Drag to Install

Drag the Binance app icon to the Applications folder icon. If a "Replace existing item" prompt appears (meaning an older version was previously installed), click "Replace."

The copying process usually completes in 5-10 seconds. Afterward, you can find the Binance client in Finder → Applications.

Step 4: First Opening

Find the Binance client icon in Launchpad or the Applications folder and double-click to open it.

Important: When first opening a non-App Store app on macOS, Gatekeeper will show a security warning. See the next section for how to handle it.

Handling macOS Security Warnings

Case 1: Prompted with "cannot be opened because the developer cannot be verified"

This is the most common case. Steps to handle:

  1. Click "OK" after the prompt appears (do not click "Move to Trash").
  2. Open System Settings → Privacy & Security.
  3. Scroll down to find "'Binance' was blocked from use because it is not from an identified developer."
  4. Click "Open Anyway."
  5. Enter your Mac login password or use Touch ID to confirm.
  6. Click "Open" again.

This operation only needs to be done once; the warning will not pop up for subsequent openings of the Binance client.

Case 2: Prompted with "is damaged and cannot be opened"

This usually doesn't mean the file is actually damaged, but that macOS security policies are stricter. Solution:

  1. Open Terminal (Launchpad → Other → Terminal).
  2. Type the following command:
xattr -cr /Applications/Binance.app
  1. Press Enter to execute and enter your Mac password if prompted.
  2. Close Terminal and reopen the Binance client.

Case 3: Enhanced Security Prompts in macOS Sequoia

macOS 15 Sequoia further strengthens security prompts and may show more detailed risk descriptions. The handling method is the same as Case 1: System Settings → Privacy & Security → Open Anyway.

Login and Initial Configuration

Scan to Login

Using scan-to-login is recommended for better security and convenience:

  1. Select "Scan to Login" on the Mac client.
  2. Open the Binance APP on your phone.
  3. Tap the scan icon in the top right corner of the home page.
  4. Scan the QR code on the Mac screen.
  5. Confirm login on your phone.

Account and Password Login

  1. Enter your email/phone number and password.
  2. Complete security verification.
  3. Enter the 2FA verification code.

Basic Configuration

  • Appearance Settings: Preferences → Appearance → Dark/Light/Follow System.
  • Startup Settings: Preferences → General → Launch at login (recommended to turn off to speed up Mac startup).
  • Notification Settings: Preferences → Notifications → Enable price alerts and trade notifications as needed.
  • Language Settings: Preferences → Language → English.

Mac Client Performance Optimization

M-series Chip Optimization

The Binance client performs excellently on M-series chips; default settings provide a smooth experience. If you open many trading windows (more than 5), keep an eye on memory usage. Check Binance's memory footprint in Activity Monitor; the normal range is 300-500MB.

Intel Chip Optimization

The Binance client on Intel Macs may lag in the following situations:

  • Opening more than 3 trading windows simultaneously.
  • K-line charts loading a large amount of historical data.
  • Many other apps running in the background.

Suggestion: Close unneeded browser tabs and apps to reserve at least 2GB of available RAM for the Binance client.

Reducing CPU Usage

If fans spin up frequently, you can:

  • Turn off unneeded real-time data pushes in settings.
  • Reduce the number of simultaneously monitored trading pairs.
  • Turn off animation effects.

Frequently Asked Questions

DMG file won't open

If double-clicking the DMG has no response, the download might be incomplete. Check if the file size matches the official site (~140-150MB); if it's too small, redownload.

Cannot find in Launchpad after installation

If the Binance icon doesn't appear in Launchpad after installation, check the Applications folder in Finder. If it's there but not in Launchpad, restarting the Mac will usually refresh Launchpad.

Client cannot connect to the internet

Check macOS Firewall settings: System Settings → Network → Firewall → Confirm Binance client is not in the block list. If it is, set it to "Allow incoming connections."

Crash after update

Some users experience crashes after updating from an old version. Solution:

  1. Completely uninstall the old version: Drag Binance from Applications to the Trash.
  2. Clean residual configs: Open Finder → Go to Folder → enter ~/Library/Application Support/ → delete the Binance folder.
  3. Empty Trash.
  4. Redownload and install the latest version from the official website.

Uninstallation Method

Open Finder → Applications → find Binance → right-click and move to Trash → empty Trash. For a thorough cleanup, also delete ~/Library/Application Support/Binance and ~/Library/Caches/Binance directories.
