How to receive crypto in Binance wallet? Deposit address acquisition and precautions

Receiving crypto in your Binance wallet takes only three steps: Open the Binance APP → Click "Deposit" → Select the coin and network → Copy or share the generated deposit address with the sender. After the sender transfers funds to this address, the funds will automatically arrive in your Binance spot account once blockchain confirmations are complete. The core of the operation is ensuring the coin, network, and address all match perfectly—the coin and network selected by the sender must be identical to what you selected when obtaining the deposit address; otherwise, assets may not arrive. Binance supports deposits for over 400 cryptocurrencies across more than 70 blockchain networks, making it one of the exchanges with the most supported coins globally, processing over 15 million deposit transactions daily. You can view the full list of supported coins on the Binance Official Website or operate directly in the Binance Official APP. For Apple phone users, please refer to the iOS Installation Tutorial.

Detailed Steps to Get Your Deposit Address

Operations in the APP

  1. Open the Binance APP and click the "Deposit" button on the home page.
  2. Enter the name or abbreviation of the coin you want to receive in the search box (e.g., enter "BTC" for Bitcoin, "ETH" for Ethereum).
  3. Select the correct coin. Note that some coins have similar names, such as ETH (Ethereum) and ETC (Ethereum Classic), which are completely different.
  4. Select the deposit network. The system will list all networks supported for that coin and display each network's estimated arrival time and minimum deposit amount.
  5. The system generates a deposit address (a string of letters and numbers) and a QR code.
  6. Click the "Copy Address" button to copy the address, or have the sender scan the QR code.

Operations on the Web

Log in to the Binance web version → Click "Wallet" in the top navigation bar → "Fiat and Spot" → "Deposit" → Search and select the coin → Select the network → Obtain the deposit address. The web version also allows you to view the historical deposit records for that address.

Validity of Deposit Addresses

Deposit addresses for most coins on Binance are permanently fixed and can be used repeatedly once generated. However, for a few coins (such as XRP, EOS, ATOM, etc.), an additional tag (Tag/Memo) is required besides the address, which must be carefully confirmed every time you deposit.

Coins Requiring a Tag/Memo

This is a common pitfall for beginners. Some cryptocurrencies require an additional tag to be filled in during the transfer:

  • XRP (Ripple): Requires a Destination Tag (a string of numbers).
  • EOS: Requires a Memo (usually a string of numbers).
  • XLM (Stellar): Requires a Memo.
  • ATOM (Cosmos): Requires a Memo.
  • HBAR (Hedera): Requires a Memo.

If the sender fails to fill in the Tag/Memo during the transfer, the funds may arrive at Binance's general wallet address but cannot be automatically allocated to your personal account. In this case, you need to contact Binance customer service and provide the transaction hash for manual recovery, which typically takes 3-14 business days. Statistics show about 5% of XRP deposits require manual processing due to missing Destination Tags.

Choosing the Right Deposit Network

Bitcoin (BTC)

Network selection for Bitcoin is relatively straightforward:

  • Bitcoin (BTC Native Network): Most commonly used, supported by almost all platforms. Fees are borne by the sender, and arrival requires 2 network confirmations, usually 20-60 minutes.
  • BEP20 (BNB Chain): If the sender is also on the BNB Chain, this network can be chosen for lower fees. Note that this is wrapped BTC on the BNB Chain, not the native Bitcoin network.
  • Lightning Network: Extremely low fees and almost instant arrival, but requires the sender to also support the Lightning Network.

For BTC deposits, using the native BTC network is recommended for the best compatibility.

Ethereum (ETH)

  • ERC20 (Ethereum Mainnet): Standard choice, fees approx. $2-10, confirmation time 3-5 minutes.
  • BEP20 (BNB Chain): Fees approx. $0.005, suitable for transfers from the BNB Chain.
  • Arbitrum One / Optimism: Fees approx. $0.1-0.5, Ethereum L2 networks.

USDT

USDT supports the most networks. See the dedicated USDT deposit article for detailed comparisons. Brief recommendation: TRC20 for daily use, BEP20 for the BNB Chain ecosystem.

Deposit Arrival Time and Confirmation Counts

Every coin and network has different confirmation requirements. To ensure security, Binance waits for a certain number of block confirmations before crediting the funds:

Coin Network Confirmations Required Estimated Arrival Time
BTC Bitcoin 2 20-60 minutes
ETH Ethereum 12 3-5 minutes
USDT TRC20 20 1-3 minutes
USDT ERC20 12 3-5 minutes
BNB BEP20 15 ~1 minute
SOL Solana 1 ~5 seconds
DOGE Dogecoin 40 ~40 minutes

Confirmation counts may be dynamically adjusted based on network security conditions.

Minimum Deposit Limits

Each coin and network has a minimum deposit limit; deposits below this limit will not be credited and cannot be recovered. Common minimums:

  • BTC (Bitcoin network): 0.00001 BTC (~$0.6)
  • ETH (Ethereum network): 0.00001 ETH (~$0.03)
  • USDT (TRC20): 1 USDT
  • BNB (BEP20): 0.001 BNB (~$0.6)

Refer to the real-time data displayed on the deposit page for specific limits.

Deposit Security Precautions

Double-Check the Address

Every time you deposit, after sending the address to the other party, it's recommended to have them send a screenshot for your confirmation before they transfer. Check at least the first 6 and last 6 characters. Some malware can replace addresses in the clipboard.

Small Test Transfer

When depositing a certain coin to Binance for the first time, or using a new network for the first time, it's recommended to send a small amount as a test. Confirm it arrives normally before performing large transfers.

Confirm Network Status

Before initiating a deposit, check the Binance APP deposit page for any network maintenance or suspension prompts. If a certain blockchain network encounters issues, Binance may temporarily close the deposit channel for that network.

Do Not Deposit to Contract Addresses

Some coins' deposit addresses are standard addresses (EOA); do not attempt to send funds directly from a smart contract to a deposit address (e.g., withdrawing directly from certain DeFi protocols). If needed, withdraw funds from the contract to your personal wallet first, then transfer from your wallet to the Binance deposit address.

Troubleshooting Missing Deposits

If a deposit has not arrived after the expected time, follow these steps:

  1. Check Sender Status: Confirm on the sending platform if the transfer was successfully sent.
  2. Query Blockchain Explorer: Copy the transaction hash (TxHash/TxID) and query it on the corresponding explorer (blockchain.com for BTC, etherscan.io for ETH, tronscan.org for TRON, bscscan.com for BNB Chain).
  3. Check Deposit History: Go to "Assets" → "Deposit History" in the Binance APP to see if the transaction is recorded as "Confirming."
  4. Contact Support: If the blockchain shows sufficient confirmations but Binance has not credited it, submit a ticket via online support in the Binance APP with the TxID, coin, network, and amount.

Most issues resolve automatically within 1-24 hours due to network congestion. If it exceeds 24 hours, support intervention usually takes 1-3 business days.
